Towson’s post-baccalaureate program in Interactive Media Design [2] is a 12-unit online program that gives you the knowledge and skills to apply advanced visual communication and graphic design theories to interactive Web sites and multimedia packages. All courses are completed entirely online without required campus visits. IAMD courses recognized as meeting Quality Matters™ review standards. This course explores the digital aesthetics and methods of World Wide Web design that are the foundation of WWW authoring. Through a series of digital Exercises and Projects the student will become aware of the basic design issues and techniques of designing for the WWW. Students are expected to develop their design aesthetic as it relates to the WWW, and participate in researching and discussing various topics of WWW design including its impact on industry, culture, education, and the visual dissemination of electronic information. This is an online course. Students utilize Second Life to present their final project and throughout the semester to meet virtually with the professor during SL office hours.

Typography is a studio art course in which the student explores advanced formal and technical concepts and the aesthetics of type. The course presents the ideas and concepts typography through lecture; slide presentations, demonstrations, and student research. Through execution and completion of Typography Projects and Exercises the student investigates the history, methods and aesthetics of typography while developing their own typographical aesthetic. This is an graduate level course so the emphasis is on research, technique, process, and the quality of the finished product. Students are expected to develop their typographical aesthetic as it relates to the WWW, and participate in researching and discussing various topics of WWW typography including its impact on industry, culture, education, and the visual dissemination of electronic information. ART620 is an online course. Students utilize Second Life for: class meetings, presentations of projects, and building activities. Students will also use SL throughout the semester to meet virtually with the professor during SL office hours.

This course explores the concepts, theories and applied principles of interactive media design. Through a series of interactive design exercises and projects the student will become aware of the interactive design issues and techniques faced by today’s interactive designers. This course explores the aesthetics and methods of World Wide Web design and authoring. Through a series of WWW Exercises and Projects the student will become aware of the design issues related to the authoring of comprehensive WWW sites. Students will use digital imaging methods for image generation, and WWW authoring techniques including: HTML, CSS, UNIX, animated gif graphics, image maps, and movie/audio clips. Students will learn and utilize current industry WWW authoring software including: Adobe Dreamweaver, and Photoshop. Students will engage in the design and production of websites, publish via the Internet, and participate in researching various aspects of design for WWW and its impact on industry, culture, education, and the visual dissemination of electronic information. ART765 is an online course. Students utilize Second Life for: class meetings, presentations of projects, and building activities. Students will also use SL throughout the semester to meet virtually with the professor during SL office hours.

Women's Studies 110: Women, Society and Culture , offered fall quarter 2009 and spring quarter 2010.
