Overview

Second Life gives teachers tools to design a dream classroom with added flexibility for exploring the learning process. Build a campus without the limits of space, budget or even the laws of gravity. Many of the snapshots below are identical to real life buildings seen on colleges campuses. Existing dimensions of learning space design have already been explored in real life buildings. But notice that some of these settings can only be explored in virtual space. So a new set of dimensions in learning space design are available for study.

• True-to-life - more or less fidelity to real-life models (vs. abstract)
• Synchronous - more or less requiring real-time chatting with others to learn (vs. self-paced)
• Generative - more or less generating mental models through metaphor - leading to learning outcomes
• Dynamic - more or less flexible to revision (vs. permanent)
• Situative - more or less supporting a learning community's existing social framework
• Authoritative - more or less enforcing a single speaker's authority (vs. collaborative)beijing massage
